There are a number of forms included in the Nomination Package, please note that these cannot be submitted electronically:

Before completing and submitting a Notice of Intent, ensure that you are eligible to run as a candidate in the upcoming 2025 municipal election.
Campaign Bank Accounts:
Alberta Municipal Affairs has revised its approach concerning the requirement for candidates to establish dedicated bank accounts. They have acknowledged the concerns raised by candidates from smaller communities who may have little or no campaign contributions. Under the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA), candidates are required to open a bank account only once total contributions reach $1,000, including any monetary contributions made by the candidate to their own campaign.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible to be nominated as a candidate, an individual must be:
- at least 18 years of age on nomination day which is September 22, 2025;
- a Canadian Citizen;
- not otherwise ineligible or disqualified under sections 22, 23, and 23.1 of the Local Authorities Elections Act;
- is eligible to vote in the election; and
- has resided in the municipality for six consecutive months immediately preceding nomination day.
We encourage you to review the eligibility requirements in the LAEA prior to submitting a Notice of Intent. Submitting the Notice of Intent and being added to the Registry of Candidates is not a substitute for completing the nomination process
Nomination papers and associated forms will be accepted from January 1 until September 22, 2025 at 12 noon. If someone other than you is dropping off your paperwork, they must be your appointed Official Agent and the forms must be signed by a Commissioner of Oaths where applicable.
